Individuals who are blind or vision impaired may have difficulty reading from an instrument board or control panel. Instrument boards and control panels are found on many types of equipment used in the workplace.
Workplace adjustments and solutions
Supports are available that make reading from instrument boards or control panels possible for people who are vision impaired, for example:
- using magnifying products to enlarge the written print on buttons, keys, controls and readouts through the use of:
- using Braille tactile labels on control panels and equipment:
- adjusting the lighting conditions through task lighting :
It may also be possible for some equipment control panels to be displayed on personal computer screens that have adaptive technology, to enable adjustment and enlargement of information for people who are vision impaired or to read information from the screen:
