For people with vision impairment accurately reading a standard spirit level to determine levels when building or constructing can be challenging. Inaccuracy in determining the appropriate level can result in tasks being assembled or constructed wrongly which can be costly and lower productivity.
A spirit level is available that emits a range of audible signals depending on the level, with no signal when completely level. The spirit level is battery operated.
Workplace solutions and adjustments
Audible spirit levels are useful for individuals who are unable to see the standard bubble indicator on a traditional spirit level.
The audible spirit level is only beneficial to those with vision impairment when measuring on a horizontal plane. Audible and visual modes operate when measuring horizontal planes, however, only the bubble indicator operates when measuring vertical planes.
The bottom surface of the spirit level is shaped as an inverted V and can therefore be used on pipes or items with a rounded surface.
No tone is audible when level. A high tone is produced if the left side is too high and a low tone is produced if the right side is too high.
