There are various alternative mops and mop buckets that may allow for easier use for people with disability including:
- one handed mops which enable the individual to wring the mop with one hand whilst stabilising the mop with their armpit
- long handled or telescopic mops which reduce the need to over reach
- ergonomic wringers and buckets which reduce the need for stooping and bending to wring the mop
- lightweight mops and buckets
- wheeled or lightweight mop buckets for easy mobility.
Workplace solutions and adjustments
For some people using a standard mop and bucket can be difficult due to physical impairment. They may have difficulty filling and emptying the bucket, squeezing the mop and gripping the mop handle due to reduced range of movement, weakness, pain or reduced grip strength. Use of alternative cleaning equipment may be appropriate to overcome these barriers.
