Plate guards

Plate guards are circular shaped plastic or stainless steel guards which fit either half way or all the way around the edge of a plate. They prevent food from being pushed off the edge of the plate when a person is eating with one utensil. Plate guards come in a wide range of sizes and can also have a curved top edge, to prevent food being pushed over the top of the guard.

Workplace solutions and adjustments

Disabilities such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, poor upper limb control, upper limb pain due to injury, blindness or poor vision can prevent a person from being able to eat independently in the workplace. Plate guards can enable a person with a disability affecting their upper limb function to maintain independence in the workplace.
