A wheelchair is a mobility aid used by individuals who are unable to, or have difficulty walking.
There are various types of wheelchairs including:
Workplace solutions and adjustments
There are a number of workplace accessibility issues to consider when accommodating wheelchair users in the workplace including:
- accessible car parking facilities close to the building entrance
- suitable door widths and building access
- access to all areas of the workplace including multiple building levels, toilet, kitchen and staff facilities
- suitable floor coverings to allow independent mobility
- suitable height desks and workplace equipment.
