Employment assistance programs and counsellors

A professional counsellor is a person who gives advice or guidance in a specific area or expertise or knowledge. Counselling is based on a discussion of ideas, opinions and beliefs in an exchange that is nonjudgemental and nondirective. A counsellor may be a social worker, psychologist or other person with specilaised knowledge or training on a topic.

Many organisations now have Employee Assistance Programmes which are designed to provide support and assistance to employees experiencing difficulties.

For assistance locating an employment assistance programme provider or counsellor in your area, please contact the JobAccess Advisers on 1800 464 800.
