Your human resource (HR) area

Human resource (HR) and diversity professionals help your employer meet their legal obligations when it comes to recruiting and managing staff, including people with disability.

The staff in your human resource area usually have access to the policies and practices related to the employment of people with disability specific to your organisation. They can often help by:
  • answering your questions about working with people with disability
  • providing practical support in the workplace such as arranging workplace adjustments for people with disability, facilitating discussion about flexible work arrangements or arranging disability awareness training for staff in your organisation
  • acting as a point of contact between you, your co-worker and their employment service provider (such as a Disability Employment Services provider).
