Disability awareness training

Disability awareness training can help you feel at ease when communicating and working with a co-worker with disability. It can also help your co-worker with disability feel supported in the workplace. Disability awareness training provides facts, research, tips for communication and tips for accommodation within the workplace.

Disability awareness training options and assistance

Australian Government employment service providers

If a co-worker with disability is being assisted by an Australian Government employment service provider such as a Disability Employment Services provider, your employer may be able to access additional workplace supports.  Many employment service providers will come into the workplace to speak to staff about working with people with disability and may even offer disability awareness training.

You could discuss this with your employer who could then contact the employment service provider for advice.

Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace e-learning course

Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace courses may give you and your organisation a greater understanding of mental illness and how people with mental illness can be supported in the workplace and the wider community.  For more information, see:
