If you want to recruit new staff, there are a number of services available to help you find the right person, including:
- Australian JobSearch
- recruitment agencies and online recruitment tools.
Australian JobSearch
Australian JobSearch is Australia’s largest free online job board. You can lodge vacancies directly onto JobSearch or phone the Employer Hotline on 13 17 15 and the job will be advertised for you. No matter how you use JobSearch, it’s free.
Using a recruitment agency
Australian Government employment service providers, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator and private recruitment agencies can help you find the right person for your job.
To attract a diverse workforce to your business, including people with disability, consider the following before selecting an agency:
- whether staff have had disability awareness training
- whether the agency has disability and Equal Employment Opportunity policies
- if the agency understands its obligations to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
Australian Government employment service providers
Australian Government employment service providers provide a national network of community and private organisations dedicated to placing people with disability into employment. They are able to work with you at no cost to help with the recruitment of people with disability.

Online recruiting
The Internet is an increasingly common recruitment tool. While the same recruitment principles apply as for offline recruiting, consider the following to make this process friendly for all applicants:
- ensure your website recruitment page is accessible
- ensure images and non-text items have text labels so that people with vision impairment can use the site using screen reading software
- ensure that all online tests are accessible.
