People with disability have been found to have fewer accidents at work and have no impact on workers compensation premiums.
In fact, the workers compensation costs for people with disability can be as low as four per cent of the workers compensation costs of other employees.
Steven Bennett, Managing Director of Benbro Pty Ltd has stated that: ‘Our workers compensation premiums did not change as a result of employing people with disabilities’.
‘There's been no impact on our workers compensation premiums at all’, says Jo Spiteri, Catering Manager at Elynwood Pty Ltd. ‘Disabled people are, again, just like everybody else. They don't want to hurt themselves. They're aware of the risks. That's all covered in their training program. And I think, again, they just want to prove that they can do the job as well as anybody else’.
