Sometimes the pathway to employment is linked to non-work related issues such as access to resources that enable you to look for and find work, or services that enable access, participation and integration in a local community.

The following services can assist with issues other than work.

Advocacy and peak organisations 
For more information related to your rights and responsibilities, you may like to contact an advocacy or peak organisation for people with disability.

Aids and equipment services 
Aids and equipment services enhance independence and improve the quality of life for people with disability.

Auslan interpreter booking and payment service
The national Auslan Interpreter, Booking and Payment Service books and pays for accredited Auslan interpreters on behalf of members of the Deaf community, doctors and health professionals for specified health or medical appointments.

Day options and day programs 
Day care options or day programs provide support and meaningful day activities for adults with disability.

Postal concessions for the blind

The Postal Concessions for the Blind Program meets postal charges for Braille, the Moon system for embossed reading, and audio material sent to, or from, eligible individuals or organisations.

Independent living services
Independent living services focus on your ability to function at home and in the community. They include Independent Living Centres, which allow you to trial different independent living products, and independent living assessment services.

Information and captioning services 
Information, caption and translation services can assist with access to recreation information and captioned television news, videos and DVDs.

Print disability services
 
The Print Disability Services Program provides funding to organisations to produce printed material in alternative formats to ensure access for people with print disability.

Respite for carers
There are programs available to assist carers of people with disability with information, respite care and support.
