Employers Guide to Partnering with Disability Employment Services

The Employers Guide is a joint project of the Australian Network on Disability and Disability Employment Australia.

This guide aims to help build effective partnerships between Australian businesses and Disability Employment Services in order to recruit staff from the entire pool of talented Australians and to make it easier for candidates with disability to get and keep jobs.

The guide may also help create a shared understanding and language to assist Disability Employment Services and employers achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Employers can contact a local Disability Employment Service to assist them with their recruiting needs and the Employers Guide outlines the recommended recruitment process.

The Employers Guide also presents case studies of successful employment of people with disability in different jobs, and the way that the employer, the employee and their Disability Employment Services support person worked together to create a good job match.

The guide also provides information about additional resources for employers, co-workers, job seekers and service providers, including concise information about several programs that may assist employers with any financial cost associated with employing people with disability.

The guide can be downloaded from the Disability Employment Australia website, the link to which is in the related links section of this page.
