Employers now have access to more financial support when they employ people with disability from a Disability Employment Service or a Job Services Australia provider.
From 1 January 2012, the Australian Government program, Wage Connect provides unemployed people with more opportunities to gain paid work.
Wage Connect may provide around $5,700 (excluding GST) to employers who employ eligible people registered with an Australian Government employment service provider. The Wage Connect subsidies are aimed at putting more unemployed people into long-term sustainable jobs.
The financial assistance will help employers with the costs of wages and training for the first 26 weeks of employment. In some circumstances the subsidy can be paid over a longer period.
Further information about the new Wage Connect subsidies is available from the link in the related links section on this page.
If you would like to discuss the subsidies, you may contact a local Australian Government employment service, details of which are available on the Australian JobSearch website link in the related links section on this page.
