There are a wide range of complementary programs provided by the Australian Government and state and territory governments that can assist job seekers with vocational or motivational barriers to find and keep a job. 

What are complementary programs?

Complementary programs are programs that assist job seekers with vocational or motivational skill barriers. The assistance may improve the job seeker's job prospects and address employment barriers.  They include:

Work for the Dole

Work for the Dole provides work experience placements for job seekers in approved activities that provide facilities and services to local communities.  For more information see (link will open in a new window):

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program

This program aims to help job seekers improve their chances of getting and keeping a job by improving their speaking, reading, writing or basic maths skills.   For more information see (link will open in a new window):

Indigenous Employment Centres

Indigenous Employment Centres help participants in the Community Development Employment Program find long term jobs and support them while they are in a job.  For more information see (link will open in a new window):

Reconnect

Reconnect helps young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, improve their level of engagement with family, work, education, training and their local community. For more information see (link will open in a new window):
