Work experience is a part of the Australian Government’s employment service, Job Services Australia.
Work experience activities provide employers with an opportunity to see how someone operates in a work environment and provides job seekers with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and attitude to employers. It also provides the job seeker with the opportunity to develop new skills and improve their chances of getting a job.
Work experience activities help job seekers to meet new work contacts, to obtain references and participate in structured training.
Job Services Australia providers can help job seekers to access work experience activities. Your Job Services Australia provider will provide information about work experience activities which may include Work for the Dole activities, Green Corps environmental and cultural and heritage activities, part-time study, Voluntary Work activities in the community sector, unpaid or paid work in a social enterprise and Defence Force Reserves.
