The Australian Apprenticeship Access Program helps disadvantaged job seekers improve their skills providing them with a better chance of getting an Australian Apprenticeship or other employment.
The Australian Apprenticeship Access Program looks at what the job seeker needs to help them get an Australian Apprenticeship while building up their work skills, including searching for jobs. The program also provides job seekers with training and support to help them obtain an Australian Apprenticeship, other employment or go onto further education and training.
In particular, the Australian Apprenticeship Access Program will:
- help job seekers work out what they need so they are job ready
- keep job seekers on track with their goals and help them complete an Individual Action Plan identifying these needs so job seekers are prepared to begin an Australian Apprenticeship
- train job seekers in the basic skills for the industry they are interested in
- support job seekers while they look for work, for example, help writing their resume and preparing for interviews
- help job seekers settle into the first 13 weeks of an Australian Apprenticeship or employment
- provide advice and moral support to keep job seekers on track if things get tough while they are looking for work.
The basic skills training job seekers receive is nationally recognised.
