WorkFocus Australia is contracted by the Australian Government to provide the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator service in each state and territory. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator offers large employers a central point of contact for the recruitment of employees with disability.
If you are a Disability Employment Services provider, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator is also able to link employers with your service and help you to establish a working relationship with them.
The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator works with employers and Disability Employment Services providers to:
- negotiate a supply of jobs with employers
- match suitable job seekers to vacant positions
- broadcast vacancies
- provide employers with up to date information about the recruitment of people with disability and any related issues
- promote the employment of people with disability.
Role of the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator
As job vacancies or opportunities arise, employers are able to provide details to the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator then broadcasts the job vacancies to the Disability Employment Services providers in the employer's local area.
Disability Employment Services providers are then able to forward applications from suitable job seekers to the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator. The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator provides the employer (or their nominated recruitment provider) with details of the job seekers.
Once an employer has decided which of the job seekers they would like to interview, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator:
- contacts and arranges the interview with the job seeker and relevant Disability Employment Services providers
- notifies any job seekers the employer has decided not to interview.
Following the interviews, the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator contacts the employer to discuss the results of the interview and to gain any feedback about the process.
Working with the Disability Employment Services providers
The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator works closely with Disability Employment Services providers by:
- providing details of job vacancies on the Provider Portal
- emailing and faxing job vacancies if required
- offering a prescreening interview with job seekers and service providers
- providing a telephone information service that operates during normal business hours
- meeting regularly to ensure that the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator gains an understanding of the needs of service providers regarding the recruitment of people with disability
- informing service providers of the needs and wants of employers, particularly large employers regarding the recruitment of people with a disability
- assisting service providers in meeting the needs of employers.
