Building Employer Confidence and Inclusion in Disability Grant round - now open!

The Minister for Families and Social Services and Minister for Women’s Safety, the Hon Anne Ruston, has announced an Australian Government Grant round aimed at increasing the capability and capacity of employers to recruit and retain people with disability.
The Building Employer Confidence and Inclusion in Disability Grant round (Grant round) is designed to increase employer confidence and match workers with businesses in growth industries and sectors experiencing labour shortages.
The Grant round comes after the Australian Government announced Employ My Ability – the Disability Employment Strategy in late 2021, which included a priority area to lift employer engagement, capability and demand to hire more people with disability. Department of Social Services consultation with employers identified that whilst many employers are willing to hire people with disability, most do not know where to start and need support to bridge the intention action gap we know exists.
Organisations are invited to apply to deliver services under the Grant round to:
- build the confidence and ability of employers to hire, support and retain employees with disability, and
- create inclusive workplaces by breaking down attitudinal barriers about people with disability.
Funded activities as part of the Grant round may include: evidence-based training or resources for businesses to improve their recruitment processes; address workplace culture and demonstrate the benefits of hiring people with disability; paid internships for people with disability with employers who have significant workforce demand; the delivery of industry-specific training for people with disability; and peer networking programs.
$20 million is available for the open, competitive grant process, with funding provided for projects until 2024.
