JobAccess Recognised for Disability Employment Leadership at Zero Project Conference 2025
JobAccess Recognised for Disability Employment Leadership.
JobAccess has been celebrated as a world-leading program that helps remove barriers and improve accessibility for people with disability. At a recent conference held in Vienna, the JobAccess program won a Zero Project Award for Innovative Solutions in Inclusive Employment and Information and Communication Technology.
The Zero Project is a global foundation that works to improve inclusion for people with disability. A total of 77 projects from 45 countries received awards for their positive impact. JobAccess was the only Australian winner, showing the program’s leadership in supporting disability employment.
The award recognises JobAccess for helping employers create inclusive and accessible workplaces and for its success in helping people with disability find and keep jobs.
Created and funded by the Australian Government, JobAccess brings together information and resources to drive disability employment. JobAccess is delivered by GenU, on behalf of the Department of Social Services (DSS), and is the national hub for workplace and employment information for people with disability, employers and service providers.
The National Disability Recruitment Coordinator (NDRC), delivered as part of the JobAccess program, is an employer engagement service. NDRC advisers work with employers to remove barriers and encourage hiring people with disability into their workforce.
JobAccess has assisted approximately 500,000 individuals in their workplaces and supported many employers to make their workplaces inclusive to support people with disability through the NDRC.
"Nearly 90 per cent of the team who deliver JobAccess live with disability or care for someone with disability. We want to even the playing field for people with disability.”, says GenU’s JobAccess National Manager.
Australian employment statistics for people with disability show a positive change, which is welcome news. The employment rate for people with disability increased from 53.4% to 60.5% between 2018 and 2022.
People with disability still face discrimination, bias, and workplaces that are not accessible. JobAccess focuses on educating employers on how to foster inclusive work practices.
