Our job seekers
As well as the Camden area, our NOVA outlet services Picton, Leppington, Smeaton Grange, Narellan, Elderslie and Mount Annan. We’re just 15 mins to Campbelltown CBD, 30 mins to Liverpool CBD and 45 mins to Sydney CBD all on direct train lines. Not only do we support people with significant barriers wanting to find work (see Scott’s story), we also support people with existing workplace skills who have been overlooked in the past. At NOVA Camden, we treat our job seekers individually by making sure we listen to their goals and interests, and learn about their skills . The following story details our job seeking on behalf of a job seeker with more prohibitive barriers: Name: Scott Barrier: Cerebral Palsy and moderate Intellectual Disability Job: Apprentice Electrician Scott receives support from the team at NOVA Camden and the apprenticeship board to learn his tasks and meet his employer’s needs. The support provided onsite includes task books, visual cues, task analysis and travel training. Scott’s family has been integral to his success, sharing insights into his barriers, strengths and preferred learning style, which helps NOVA put together effective training and support in accordance with his learning abilities. Entering the workforce has opened up many doors for Scott, including becoming more independent. His confidence has grown so much that NOVA has linked Scott to a service to help him find a place of his own through a community housing program that supports people with intellectual disabilities to live independently. Contact NOVA Camden and learn about how we can support you find and keep a long-term, award-wage job that suits your skills and interests.
Our employers
NOVA saves employers time and money by looking after the initial shortlisting of candidates. We then match the best candidate to the employer. NOVA listens to the employers’ needs and works in partnership with them to provide ongoing training and assistance to help new workers settle in and become productive members of the team. We partner with businesses in a range of industries, including trucking and transport, childcare, aged care, hospitality, cleaning, animal care, IT, retail, home care, warehousing, factories, trades, security, nursing and other health care. From Camden we work with NOVA outlets right across Sydney to deliver diligent, skilled and committed staff to our employers. During this year alone, we’ve worked with NOVA in Rouse Hill, St Marys, Richmond, Ingleburn and Campbelltown to ensure our job seekers and employers are satisfied. The most successful NOVA-employer relationships are open, informative and mutually beneficial. We make sure NOVA-placed staff are well aware of their employer’s expectations. Meeting these through strong post-placement support and working together is our recipe for long-term success. But don’t take our word for it, please read this testimonial from an employer who has partnered with NOVA Camden: “Working with a person with a disability is a learning experience for all of us. It gives us all more understanding of the disabilities people have and that they can work and communicate like the rest of us. I would recommend that other businesses give NOVA Employment a call to help fill positions. They do a tremendous job. Christopher’s Employment Consultant has been professional in all dealings, making his transition into our workplace a memorable one.”

Our performance
At NOVA Camden , we love finding award-wage jobs for people with a disability. This enthusiasm is supported by impressive statistics that back up our and employer stories. Our extensive experience working with young people (33% of our job seekers are under the age of 25) and our commitment to finding long-term jobs for youth means that 100% of our Eligible School Leavers (youth with a significant disability) are in employment! We work closely with schools to ensure that our local youth get a great start entering adulthood. Our success with young people doesn’t mean our mature workers miss out. Forty-one per cent of our job seekers are aged over 46 and they draw from a range of life experiences. Overall, 38% of employment found for our job seekers is full time. Although we work with people with all kinds of barriers, 7% of NOVA Camden’s caseload have an Intellectual Disability (ID). One-fifth of our job seekers with an ID find long-term, full-time employment with an apprentice or training component. Without NOVA’s belief in their abilities, they would be at home or in sheltered employment. As well, 13% of NOVA’s job seekers with a Psychiatric Disability and 11% of people with ASD find long-term, full-time employment with a learning component. “Thank you NOVA for helping me find a job. I left school in 2007 and am still working at Cougar Powder Coating. It is hard work, which I like, and everyone treats me just like them. My Job Coach helps me stay focused. I am easily distracted so together we work on my skills to complete tasks allocated to me. NOVA also talks to the other workers about my capabilities so they understand me better. I feel accepted here, which makes work
