Jobsupport is a specialist Disability Employment Service - Employment Support Service (ESS) for people with a moderate intellectual disability (WAIS IQ less than or equal to 60). Applicants referred to Jobsupport’s DES service should have a moderate intellectual disability requiring careful job matching, intensive one to one on the job training for several weeks and a high level of long term support to secure and maintain employment.
Jobsupport has the highest job placement and job retention rate in Australia for job seekers with intellectual disability.

JOBSUPPORT PROVIDES THE TRAINING AND SUPPORT TO ENSURE SUCCESS
- Free recruitment, jobmatching job analysis and training as well as free on-going support to employers

Our networks
As Jobsupport provides ongoing onsite support to clients and employers it has established strong links with its network of existing employers. Many of the jobs secured for Jobsupport clients come from employers who have had previous experience with the Jobsupport service. Since 1986, we have been working closely with the schools and transition teachers in the areas serviced by Jobsupport to assist school leavers to transition from school to open employment. Jobsupport has established links with other service providers, professionals such as psychologists and occupational therapists, and organisations such as Inclusion Australia; National Disability Services (NDS) and Disability Employment Australia (DEA). Jobsupport has also been involved in continuous improvement and professional development projects with Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Sydney. For example, the Jobsupport staff training programme includes courses developed in collaboration with, and offered through the University of Sydney.
Our performance
Every Jobsupport contract and site received a 5 star rating in DEEWR's March 2012 Star Ratings. DEEWR data at Nov.30th 2012 shows: · 74% of Jobsupport clients achieve a 26 week outcome. The industry average for people with an intellectual disability is 30.3% · Jobsupport retention rate on employment is 78.5%. The industry average for people with an intellectual disability is 72.7% The average tenure in a job for Jobsupport clients is 6.7 years. Jobsupport clients work an average of 21 hours per week. Jobsupport currently supports over 590 people in open employment jobs across the Sydney metropolitan and northern Melbourne regions. The last publicly available wages data is from 31st Dec.2009. At that time the industry average weekly wage for people with an intellectual disability was $260. At that time the average for Jobsupport clients was $334 and at Dec. 2012 has risen to $354. Over 80% of the Sydney school leavers with a moderate intellectual disability who achieve open employment to do so through Jobsupport. Some of Jobsupport’s other achievements over the years include: · Winning a National Safety Council award to demonstrate the safety of workers with an intellectual disability · Being one of the first open employment services to achieve Quality Management Systems (ISO9001), Disability Services Standards and OHS (AS/NZS4801) accreditation · Developing training materials that were distributed throughout Australia by the Commonwealth Government as an example of good practice to assist other organisations to replicate the service. Jobsupport’s mission is to place, train and maintain as many people with a significant intellectual disability as possible into quality jobs in the regular workforce that meet both their employment needs and the needs of the employer. Jobsupport is a specialist service for people with moderate intellectual disability ( WAIS IQ of 60 or less).
Jobsupport delivers sustained performance: Jobsupport was established in 1986. Today we support over 750 people with intellectual disability in jobs across the Sydney metropolitan and northern Melbourne and Brisbane regions. Jobsupport delivers its mission through two programmes:
1. Jobsupport’s Open Employment service Disability Employment Services - Employment Support Service placing people with an intellectual disability into paid jobs in the regular workforce.
2. Jobsupport’s Transition programme is an NDIS-funded School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) service which gives school leavers with an intellectual disability extra help before they attempt paid employment, by providing them with successful work experience and by addressing issues that are preventing their acceptance by an open employment service.
Jobsupport undertakes a thorough and quality-tested process to match someone with an intellectual disability to a job that is right for him or her. As we say in our Mission the job must meet the needs of employee and employer. They are not interested in wasting time on something that will not work, and neither are we.
