Our job seekers
At Employment Plus we don’t ever see a job, as just a job. We see a job as an opportunity for a better, more secure, more stable and empowered life.
Employment Plus works with people from all walks of life, to help them overcome any barriers they might be facing, and to implement a successful job-hunting strategy and move happily into a new role. It’s our mission to not only get you a job, but to make sure that you feel confident, capable and prepared to do it.
Whether you’ve been out of work for some time: parenting, caring, studying or dealing with health issues; or if you’ve become unemployed through redundancy or other circumstances, we look forward to helping you on your journey back into the workforce.
Your dedicated Employment Plus representative will create a personalised job plan with you, identify suitable vacancies and help with everything you need throughout the application process. Our consultants come from wide-ranging backgrounds and have strong networks of employers in their area. They can help you update your resume, brush up on interview techniques or learn new skills, access interesting opportunities, and ensure you are well supported when you start your new position.
We will message you as suitable openings arise, so you have an early lead to get a head start.
At our offices you will have access to computers and free WiFi, job search databases, phones and photocopiers, to give you all the tools you need for job hunting.
To help you get and keep a job, depending on your circumstances, we can even cover some early costs such as public transport fares, petrol, uniforms and work footwear. And where eligible, we can make hiring you even more attractive by assisting employers to cover some of your wages through government funding.
Our employers
At Employment Plus, we know great staff are essential for successful businesses. You can rely on us to provide candidates who are job-ready, and primed to hit the ground running when and where you need them.
We understand that every business is different, which is why we pride ourselves on intimately understanding yours, so we can send you the best (and most suitable) people. We’re passionate about working with our employer partners to identify opportunities for growth, and take the time to source individuals who can facilitate this.
Being government funded means we provide the lion’s share of our services at absolutely no cost to you. In addition, Employment Plus can help you access generous wage subsidies for eligible employees. We can even develop customised pre-employment internal training programs for your new hires, so they start adding value to your team right from the get-go.
Along with providing skilled, job-ready candidates who are a great fit for your workplace, we maintain close contact throughout the onboarding process to ensure you are both properly supported.
Here’s how it works:
• We develop a detailed job brief with you.
• We find and engage potential candidates.
• We screen and shortlist against your key selection criteria.
• We coordinate interviews.
• We support you and your new employee through the first months of employment.
When it comes to recruitment, we know what works and what doesn’t. And because we know some staffing requirements fluctuate seasonally, our representatives can help you prepare for busy times by lining up candidates and training them in advance.
It’s never just a job: it’s your business. To get us working for you right now, register a vacancy online or call 136 123.

Our performance
With a rich heritage and history, our contribution to the Australian workforce preceds even the Great Depression. The Salvation Army first opened a labour bureau in Melbourne in the late 1800s (the first of its kind in the country) as a tactical response to combat mass unemployment and poverty. Not only did we find people work, but we fed and sheltered those who didn’t have money. For them, a job meant survival.
After going on to found Employment Plus in 1998, we are now assisting hundreds of people into sustainable employment every week. A lot has changed since then, but we are still driven by that same strong sense of purpose. We steadfastly believe employment changes lives and everyone should have the opportunity to work. It is this dedication to care that really sets us apart.
Employment Plus has an outstanding track record of developing tailored programs that meet specific challenges, both for job seekers and for employers requiring staff with specialised skills.
Our expert consultants are passionate, enthusiastic, tenacious, inclusive and caring. They are highly trained, and skilled in identifying job seeker strengths and matching them to suitable employment opportunities.
We develop and conduct customised skills and vocational based training, including niche courses such as the national award-winning ‘Oothungs’ (Sisters) in Mining pre-employment program, for Indigenous women pursuing a mining career. Others include our partnership with McDonalds Australia: ‘Going for Gold’, which provides employment for youth facing adversity.
As champions for the vulnerable, disadvantaged, marginalised and ignored, our guiding star is "hope for all, work for all".
About us
Job seekers know they can trust us, because we have their best interests at heart. Employers know they can feel good about doing business with us because our operational surpluses go straight back to The Salvation Army, as funding for essential community programs: providing relief to the homeless, disaster victims and many other local programs.
We believe the following:
• Employment changes lives:
Employment represents opportunity, the future, security, stability, health, happiness and so much more.
• Everyone should have the opportunity to work:
Work is more than money, it is an opportunity for a better life, and everyone should have the opportunity to better themselves.
• We provide a hand up, not a hand out:
We help some of Australia’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged, back on their feet and into stable employment. This doesn’t happen overnight and our job seekers work hard, with us, to secure their future.
• Smart partnerships facilitate growth and opportunity:
Our role doesn’t end when our job seeker’s starts, we consistently champion for growth and opportunity. It’s never just a job: it’s a life, a career, a family, a community.
• Understanding opens up real opportunity:
Our people are determined to get into employment, but that doesn’t mean it is always easy. Taking the time to listen and understand, allows us to be innovative with our solutions, and achieve greater outcomes.
• Local relevance builds a compelling network:
We work with businesses and employers at a community level around regional Australia, to better understand the employment issues at-hand for the people we help. When we create local opportunities, everyone wins.
