Our job seekers
Ability Centre is a fully wheelchair accessible site with a private meeting room. Ability Centre offers a tailored service to its jobseekers, providing full or little support depending on your individual needs. We identify and approach suitable employers and negotiate employment placements for all jobseekers. Our approach has resulted in securing sustainable and meaningful employment for our jobseekers. We are highly successful in securing employment for motivated job seekers through skill development. We performed strongly against the 2010 DES Star Rating System, maintaining a 5 Star Rating throughout the entire contract, 8 years we performed over 40% above the national average in supporting people into quality jobs.
Work experience placements feature significantly in preparing for work and identifying current work skill sets. Work experiences enable us to identify your current skill levels and individual support needs. Ability Centre invests considerable time in sourcing suitable employment opportunities and matching your skills to the right job with a supportive employer. Preparing for work will be different for each individual. Work experience placements provides you with an opportunity to see what it’s like to work in a particular role or position and assess your skills and if any require enhancing to achieve your employment goal. In addition, we also assist our job seekers to access training and workshops to prepare for work and develop work skills.

Ability Centre works with small, medium and large companies and registered businesses to provide suitably qualified and reliable staff to meet their business needs. Over the past 25 years Ability Centre has successfully developed strong relationships with local businesses and large organisations in the wider community. We invest considerable time in matching the right person for the right job, and in doing so may reduce costs for advertising, recruitment and training. Ability Centre provides support and training to all new employees and will monitor the employee's placement on an ongoing basis. These community services play a significant role in providing additional support to manage your barriers to employment or secure additional support in managing your medical condition. Some examples of the types of services that Ability Centre liaise with are but not limited to Mental Health Providers, Registered Training Organisations, Legal Services, Crisis Care, Multicultural and Interpreting Services, Advocacy Services and adjunct services.
