Our job seekers
We undertake targeted job searching with individuals as LEAD understands that in order to be a competitive candidate and to ensure success, matching the right person with the right job is key.
LEAD believes in listening to our clients and accentuating this through highlighting their strengths and capabilities. We will build a rapport together as we develop your Employment Pathway Plan. We will outline your employment goals and also assist you to address other barriers to work. Working with you holistically in this way will increase your work readiness and provide you with confidence and support to go forward and seize opportunities.
LEAD's friendly Pre-Employment Team will spend time with you one on one (either weekly or fortnightly), and creatively develop a resume that builds a picture of you for prospective employers. LEAD can then assist you to prepare and submit job applications, address selection criteria and contact employers.
Our employers
LEAD has ongoing relationships with employers in the Canberra region, and we have worked hard to develop and maintain these relationships. This means we are able to call on employers to provide opportunities for employment of people with disability, and we can give them ongoing support to ensure employment placements are successful.
We also link in with other agencies that can help support you to reach your employment goals and address barriers to work.
Our networks
LEAD has been operating in the ACT and NSW for 22 years providing quality support services to people with disability. LEAD is more than just a name for the organisation, it outlines a commitment to the people who use LEAD.
LEAD's meaning is outlined in our Vision Statement.
Clients at LEAD will be able to truly:
Live the life you choose
Experience success...and be allowed to fail
Access all our community has to offer
Develop to become the greatest possible version of yourself
LEAD has ongoing relationships with a number of employers in the ACT and surrounding NSW and we are able to call on our networks to negotiate employment opportunities.
LEAD has transition pathways established for students, school leavers or students looking for part time work. We actively support people to complete Australian School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA) and collaborate with schools, teachers and training organisations.
Working with the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator (NDRC) has also led to successful employment placements for people and recently we have had success in connecting people looking for work with contracts and ongoing work in the Public Service.
LEAD is a member of the Network of Employment and Training Agencies, and we also hold professional membership of Peak bodies such as National Disability Services. Our CEO is a Board member of Disability Employment Australia - the peak body representing Disability Employment Services nationally, and other staff are also members and contributors to similar policy groups. We feel it is important to contribute to the ongoing development of the sector and effect policy change and development in this way.
Our performance
LEAD Employment in Canberra has consistently maintained 4 and 5 Star Ratings in Canberra for the last 2 years! This makes us the highest rated service in the ACT.
We believe we have achieved this excellent result because we know how to listen to people; we know how to go forward into the community and advocate for and support our clients.
We believe in providing thorough employment support to you when you are employed so that you can not only maintain your employment; but also grow and develop. Support needs change over time and we are flexible and responsive to your needs and the needs of your employer.
