Our job seekers

Western District Employment Access (WDEA) has a variety of employment programs which include:

Disability Employment Services (DES) - for those with permanent disability, illness or health condition who require support to find and maintain employment. WDEA is a generalist provider of the DES programs so we work with people who have all types of ongoing medical conditions or disability.

Job Active (JA) - For people experiencing a range of vocational and non-vocational barriers who wish to find and maintain employment. WDEA will assist you by:

  • Assigning a Case Manager that will work with you one-on-one throughout your time in the program.
  • Meeting with you regularly to provide support * Working with you to identify the best path to achieving your employment goals.
  • Providing support and guidance for job search and employment activities.

WDEA can also provide access to:

  • Licensing and accredited training
  • Personal skills development * Work Experience
  • Government employer incentives

Western District Employment Access (WDEA) has a variety of services which means that WDEA can offer employers our support to employ a more diverse range of personnel . The core focus of WDEA Employment is supporting clients to become independently employed, while simultaneously offering a high quality recruitment and employment support service to employers.

WDEA offers a range of benefits and services that can be utilised at no or little cost to employers. These include:

  • Skills training of all levels for jobseekers to suit your business needs. 

WDEA’s free service will save you time and money when it comes to finding new employees. Our professional staff will work closely with you to find the people you need. We can search our online database of clients for suitable candidates and also provide free advertising through the Australian Government Jobsearch website and help you explore local advertising options, such as print media, radio or other media.

To Place a Vacancy

You can place a vacancy by contacting your local WDEA office, or you can lodge an online vacancy using our online form and a WDEA representative will contact you to finalise the details.

Our performance

Western District Employment Access (WDEA) is a high performing provider in the Disability Employment Services (DES) program.  We also have a history of strong performance in the Job Services Australia (JSA) program which is set to continue into the Job Active (JA) program.

One of WDEA's key strengths is the ability to work with local employers and services to ensure the best range of opportunities are created for our clients and employers. This results in WDEA being one of the leading providers of employment and community services in the region.  The strong performance WDEA has achieved has been a key factor in the large amount of growth WDEA has had in the Disability Employment Services and Job Active programs.  The expansion of these services were awarded by the Department of Social Services and Department of Employment based on competing tenders from other employment providers around the country.

About us

Western District Employment Access (WDEA) is a not-for-profit community based organisation that has been providing individualised employment services in Western Victoria from 1989. Since then, WDEA has grown to become one of the largest community and employment service providers in the region, employing over 350 people across 20 different sites in a range of community based services and programs. These programs include:

As a result of the different programs that WDEA offers, we are able to tailor a service to meet many job seekers varying requirements.

WDEA also uses its community and enterprise services to help prepare job seekers for employment in the open labour market. Consequently, the transition to searching for and working in open employment is made much more seamlessly.

Any job seeker looking for work in the open labour market may be able to utilise our Disability Employment Services and Job Active programs.

Disability Employment Services

  • Specialising in employment support for all ongoing disabilities and health conditions.
  • Offers both long term support and short term assistance programs.
  • For ages 15 to 65 - including those still at school receiving education funding.

Job Active

Focused on working with clients experiencing a broad range of circumstances, some of which may include:

  • Redundant workers
  • Long term unemployed
  • Those with an Indigenous or diverse cultural background
  • Youth and Mature age
  • Parents and carers
