Capacity building to ‘Get that Job’ and ‘Stay in that Job’ is at the heart of Sarina Russo Job Access’ philosophy to help more people with a disability into work.

All people with disability, injury or a health condition have the potential to participate fully in the Australian workforce and undertake genuine work for real wages.

To overcome skill gaps and provide a direct line of sight to a job, Sarina Russo Job Access’ Disability Employment Services (DES) team invests in job readiness skilling, professional development training, allied health interventions and practical work experience opportunities. 

Clients are also encouraged to consider starting their own business or undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship.

New On-The-Go Career Centres allow clients to be serviced in their local community. For example, appointments can be hosted at the local public library or community centre, close to public transport hubs, instead of at the Sarina Russo Job Access office.

The ability to access education, training, apprenticeships, career development, allied health service and the opportunity to become your own boss are Sarina Russo Job Access’ major points-of-difference in delivering the Disability Management Services contract.

Sarina Russo Job Access assists employers become ‘disability confident’ by identifying, recruiting and retaining talented people with a disability in the workforce.

Small to medium businesses employ the largest number of people in Australia and Sarina Russo Job Access has set the challenge to encourage employers to overcome any embedded cultural stereotypes and employ more people with disability.

Sarina Russo Job Access can organise experiential programs such as work trials, mentoring programs, internships and job placements.  This first-hand contact between small business and people with a disability is a powerful strategy.

The Sarina Russo Job Access Disability and Employment Services team will:

• Screen and shortlist candidates;

• Train the successful applicant to meet your skills needs;

• Assess eligibility for wage incentives, workplace support and training;

• Undertake worksite assessments;

• Supply workplace modifications; and

• Offer post placement and ongoing support

 

Our networks

Sarina Russo integrated education, training and employment services provide wonderful scope for Participants to rise above their personal or vocational barriers to become job-ready and return to work.

We offer a wide range of programs including jobactive, New Enterprise Incentive Scheme, Australia Apprenticeship Support Network services, Disability Employment Services, Allied Health Services, vocational training right through to higher education diplomas and degrees.

Participants can be referred to:

• Sarina Russo Institute - Delivers industry focused accredited and non-accredited training, mentoring and job placement

• Sarina Russo Apprenticeships – Offers Participants the right advice on over 600 occupations and co-ordinate the sign-up processes and engage the Registered Training Organisation

• New Enterprise Incentive Scheme – Become your own boss and graduate with a Certificate IV in Small Business Management

• VOICE - Psychologists & Allied Professionals - Assists with employment related issues including Alcohol / Drug Issues, Family / Relationship Concerns, Financial Challenges, Health Issues, Anxiety / Depression and Bereavement

Sarina Russo Job Access also has strong government, community and industry links in each of our Employment Services Areas which benefit both local Participants and employers. These strong links ensure we are able to provide support to meet a broad range of specialist needs.

In 1979, Sarina combined inspiration and desperation to open a small typing school with just nine students. On graduation, she promised all the students jobs and she delivered.
